Better Than Life
Better Than Life is a science fiction comedy novel by Grant Naylor, the collective name for Red Dwarf creator/writers Rob Grant and Doug Naylor. The main story was developed, and expanded, from the Red Dwarf episode of the same name.
Better Than Life was the first Red Dwarf novel to receive its first print run in hardback edition. The previous novel Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers was only being printed in paperback. As with that first novel, Better Than Life became a best seller and was reproduced in paperback, omnibus and audio cassette versions. Two further novels Last Human and Backwards followed in 1995 and 1996 respectively.

Last Human
Last Human is the title of a 1995 science fiction comedy novel written by Doug Naylor. It is part of the Red Dwarf series of novels, based on the popular television show created by Naylor and his partner Rob Grant. Like the other novels, it does not take place within the television series continuity, but instead adapts situations presented on the series to occur within an alternative universe.
The novel focuses on Dave Lister and his fellow crewmates as they attempt to return to their home universe through the myriad of parallel universes that exist, becoming distracted by the search for a lost viral strain promising immortality. It also is introduces Kristine Kochanski as a main character. It follows the novel Better Than Life, written by both Naylor and Grant as the writing partnership Grant Naylor.
It contains elements of the episodes Psirens, Demons and Angels, DNA, Quarantine, Emohawk: Polymorph II, Legion, Camille, Gunmen of the Apocalypse and elements that seem similar to those that would later be used in Ouroboros. The character of Kristine Kochanski, as set elaborated in this book, is similar to the parallel universe character introduced in the television series in Ouroboros.
